Deborah Kerr: Freedom from Fear

Interview with Deborah Kerr

Learn to be happy in small increments. I'm happy talking to you, so right now, I'm happy, and I'm grateful for this time. If I can be happy for five minutes, ten minutes, them I'm free from fear. I don't worry about my health or my place in the world: I'm just happy. When I'm happy I feel obliged to pull other people aboard to enjoy it with me. Suddenly, I'm happy for an entire day, an entire week. Happiness--a freedom from fear--is an active process. I wish I had realized this sooner, because I missed a lot of years of happiness--mine and that of those around me.
